Tour & Ticket FAQ’s
In an effort to continue to enhance the magical experience of the Fourth Ward Holiday Home Tour, we’re excited to announce this year we’re offering the option to purchase Day-Specific tickets IN ADDITION TO the Weekend Flex Pass tickets!
With the new day-specific ticket option, you’re able to purchase tickets for the day of your choice at a reduced cost. Day-specific tickets WILL ONLY BE VALID for that day, and no refunds or exchanges will be issued for inclement weather. The Holiday Home Tour is a rain or shine event.
Tourgoers can still choose to experience the tour over multiple days when they purchase the Weekend Flex Pass ticket. All ticketholders still get single-entry access into each home/location.
What are the new ticket options?
There will be an option to buy a Friday-, Saturday-, or Sunday-only ticket, OR a Weekend Flex ticket.
What happens if there is rain on the day of my ticket?
As per previous years, the tour goes on Rain or Shine. Unless we cancel the event, the ticket will still only be valid for the day you selected.
What happens in the event of a cancellation day?
If for reasons beyond our control, we are forced to cancel a day of the tour, your ticket for that day will be automatically considered a flex ticket and you will be welcome to attend on one of the other days. We have only ever cancelled one day in the 41 years of the tour, so this is extremely unlikely to happen. We will attempt to give as much advance notice as possible.
Since the McNinch house is only opened to tour goers on Sunday, will I still be able to gain entry into the McNinch house if I purchase a Friday- or Saturday-only ticket?
Yes, both flex and day-specific ticket holders will have access to the McNinch house on Sunday. You can use your Friday or Saturday ticket to gain entry to the McNinch on Sunday.
Will I be able to access houses & tastings multiple times with the Weekend Pass?
No, the ticket is still Single Entry for each home/location, as it has been in previous years.

History of the Fourth Ward Holiday Home Tour
Founded in 1977 by neighbors who visited each other’s homes to feast, sing carols and enjoy holiday décor, the Friends of Fourth Ward Holiday Home Tour has evolved substantially in thirty eight years. In 1979, the event opened to the public and quickly became a successful fundraiser for the neighborhood. The Holiday Home Tour is the largest fund raiser for the Fourth Ward Neighborhood . Funds help improve the safety and quality of life in the Fourth Ward and Uptown Charlotte area. Improvements include better lighting for our neighborhood and park, the crosswalk at Harris Teeter, bags for the dog walkers to use to keep our neighborhood clean, a new playground on 9th street, additional bicycles for our policeman, additional supplies for our local firemen, and support for local schools. Come have fun and help us continue to make the center city a great play to live, work and play!
History of Historic Fourth Ward
In the mid-1830s, Charlotte was divided into four political wards. The northwest quadrant was called Fourth Ward – a prosperous area that was home to merchants, ministers, physicians and numerous churches, forming a strong center of social and religious influence.By the early 1900s, the trolley had expanded beyond uptown Charlotte, making nearby “suburbs” such as Dilworth the neighborhoods of choice. Fourth Ward entered a period of decline that continued until 1976, when the Junior League undertook a restoration program that fired the imaginations of adventurous urban “pioneers”.
Today, Historic Fourth Ward is an active, charming community of grand Victorians, luxury condominiums, urban apartments, parks and businesses, as well as cultural, religious and educational activities – all within walking distance of Charlotte’s thriving uptown business center.
Tour proceeds benefit the non-profit Friends of Fourth Ward neighborhood organization.
